By using rhymes at the end of every sentence, the book reads quickly and easily, with a cadence perfect for reading aloud. The basic story remains the same with Schwartz using classic phrases such as huff and puff and blow houses down. This is a fun story for older and younger kids that enjoy karate and action. THE THREE NINJA PIGS takes the familiar tale of the three little pigs and turns it on its head. The wolf who appears throughout the story gets his comeuppance too, as in all good fairy tales, and it’s worth the wait.Īpparently inspired by David Bedford’s three-year-old daughter, there is much craziness throughout The Three Ninja Pigs, accompanied by Becka Moor’s wacky, colourful illustrations, which offer lots of detail to pour over and perfectly suit the story. The three little pigs arent going to take it from that wolf anymore, so they enroll in aikido, jujitsu and karate lessons. The Three Ninja Pigs is an action packed book with karate fighting pigs and fun comic style illustrations and layout. The fairy tales are not just in the written story, there are lots of visual clues as well - look out for the funny green troll.
All these places are recognisable because The Three Ninja Pigs is an amusing mashup of multiple fairy tales, namely The Three Little Pigs, Little Red Riding Hood, Goldilocks and the Three Bears, Cinderella, and Rapunzel (plus a couple of others).
